In the late 1970s a small group of friends began to gather every year for a barbeque. It was such a good barbeque it became our community festival. Last year over 14,000 people celebrated Spring Fling’s 30th birthday on Errol Street. With the Street Festival now a biennial event, 2009 sees the introduction of Fundraising Week to take place every alternative year. In 2009 UNWRAP the best of North and West Melbourne during 7 days and nights by discovering something new or returning to an old favourite for something a little special. It gives us a chance to indulge and share local places, sites, sounds, smells and activities and help raise funds for 2010 when Spring Fling returns to Errol Street. So, this Spring gather your friends and Unwrap the best of North and West Melbourne.
We acknowledge the people of the Kulin nation, traditional owners of the land that became North and West Melbourne, including the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri people, who gathered in this place for ceremonies and cultural activities long long before the 1970’s barbeque that started Spring Fling.
